WALLS OF RAINEY

THE CREATIVE CURRENT

The Creative Current is Rainey Street’s dedicated mural and public art initiative. It is a living conduit for creativity, culture, and community. This ongoing program commissions acclaimed local and international artists to transform Rainey's walls into bold large scale works of art, turning the neighborhood into an evolving open air gallery.

Through the walls of Rainey, each mural tells a story about Austin’s history, diversity, and energy while creating new opportunities for artists and businesses to connect. Visitors can experience these works through a self guided journey that links every mural, artist, and story across the district.

By weaving art into the fabric of Rainey Street, The Creative Current not only beautifies public spaces but also serves as a conduit for dialogue, inspiration, and the creative economy. This ensures that Rainey Street remains one of Austin’s most dynamic cultural destinations.
